Boost for Colliers CRE's corporate recovery team

06/10/2008

In a time of continuing economic uncertainty, one of the UK's leading property consultancies has bolstered its corporate recovery team with the appointment of a well known and high profile property recovery and restructuring specialist.

Colliers CRE has appointed Jon Cookson, a chartered surveyor and fellow of the Non Administrative Receivers Association (NARA) as director, in a move which is seen as a major coup by its regional and national teams.

Cookson joins a short time after 11 years at Bache Treharne in Birmingham, where, as partner he headed the corporate property recovery team.

Jon Cookson brings a wealth of experience working with banks, building societies and other financial institutions together with insolvency practitioners acting as administrators, administrative receivers and liquidators across the UK. This is in respect of property debt recovery and advising struggling property owners and occupants on the maximisation of value and minimisation of liabilities.

Commenting, Colin Knott, head of Colliers CRE Corporate Recovery team in London said: "We are delighted to welcome Jon as a senior member of our team. His experience and knowledge will strengthen our capability to produce pragmatic solutions for our clients. This is an exceptionally challenging time and I look forward to working closely with him.

"Jon's appointment is an important step in developing this rapidly expanding area of our business both regionally and nationally. The opportunity to attract one of the region's leading property restructuring, recovery and LPA Receivership comes at a significant time in the property market and we are thrilled to attract such a significant and highly respected individual to our team."
But as Jon Cookson explained, the Colliers CRE move provides the opportunity to combine his strong Midland links from a Birmingham base with a national perspective:

"The breadth of property service lines, expertise and contact across all sectors with the specialist automotive, hotel, licensed and leisure, healthcare and ratings teams, is what attracted me to Colliers CRE. The chance to work with the Corporate Recovery team and national network of offices was an added incentive behind the move.

"The challenging economy will continue to face both lenders and occupiers across the UK for the next few years, but having appropriate expert property guidance to help resolve matters and come up with innovative solutions in the current climate is the best way forward during these difficult times."
